Step 2 - Stay in Credit
The easiest way to reduce your fees and charges is to stay in credit. Set aside a few minutes each day to review and manage your money. This will help you to stay in credit and remain in control of your finances.

Step 3 - If you have an overdraft, manage it carefully
If you have an overdraft limit, try to stay within it. Make sure that your limit is appropriate to your needs. For example do you have a £100 overdraft limit if you really need £200. Likewise, there is no point having a £1000 overdraft limit if you don’t really need it. It’s also wise to budget for your overdraft repayments.
Remember: an overdraft is not a permanent loan, it is repayable on demand. If you need any further information or help please visit your local branch where an advisor will be happy to discuss your needs.

Step 4 - Talk to us first
If you think you are going to go overdrawn or go over your overdraft limit contact your branch. We will be glad to do what we can to help. By doing this you should avoid any unnecessary unauthorised borrowing fees.

Step 5 - Make sure you have the money to cover your purchases
It’s never a good idea to write cheques or use your debit card if you don’t have the money to pay for your purchases. Check your available balance before making any purchases. You can do this easily through the ATM, Telephone Banking and eBanking*.

If you don’t have access to a PC you can register for Telephone Banking which also gives you access to your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Register today for eBanking.

Step 8 - Register for e-mail or text messaging**
If you register for eBanking and you subscribe to our email and text messaging service we can send you an e-mail or a text message if your balance falls below a certain level.# This is another easy way for you to keep track of your finances.
We know that managing your money can be time consuming and it’s not always an easy task. However, keeping a track of your finances will benefit you.
If you are interested in registering for any of the above services, speak to a member of staff at your local branch. Should you wish to discuss any specific aspect of managing your account, please do not hesitate to contact your relationship manager for assistance.
