Technical requirements
If your PC is a recent model, you can use our Web site and eBanking without problems. But in order to get the most out of the Web site and eBanking, there are a few things you should be aware of.

Security: e-Safekey or ActivCard?
Northern eBanking offers two security systems: e-Safekey and ActivCard. The one you should choose depends on the type of computer you use:
  • Apple Mac users must use ActivCard.
  • On PCs using any Windows operating system (95,98, 2000, XP, etc.), the default option is e-Safekey, although you can also use ActivCard.

Read more about security, e-Safekey and ActivCard. Browser A browser is a program that is used to display Web sites. Your choice of browser is therefore crucial in determining how you experience a Web site.

Here you can see the browsers that we have tested for all the functions in eBanking and can verify provide sufficient quality performance.

Internet connection
The speed of your Internet connection determines how quickly Web pages are displayed in your browser.


You can obtain an acceptable display of our pages with a telephone modem connection of at least 56K or an ISDN connection. Of course pages will load quicker if you are using an ADSL or cable modem connection.

Monitor
The resolution and size of your monitor affect the appearance of Web pages in the browser, the font size for example.

We design our Web site and most of the functions in eBanking for a screen resolution of 800x600 pixels, which is the standard resolution for a 15" screen.

If your browser window is smaller than the size a Web site is designed for, you will see a scrollbar. Use the scrollbar to see the entire page.

W3C-compatible
In order to ensure the best possible accessibility for the most users, we check the Web site and eBanking with W3C's validation service, validator.w3.org.
