When we select and develop managers, we focus on four leadership disciplines: professional management, strategic management, performance-oriented management, and people management. All managers need to focus on ensuring that they have satisfied and committed staff who are able to develop personally and professionally. This should all be achieved on the basis of each individual staff member’s personal expertise and skills, preferences and needs.
Every manager has unique expertise and skillsWe have a management infrastructure that applies to all managers. But this does not mean that good management is fostered by regulation. In an organisation that covers so many areas, the emphasis for each individual manager is different. This is why every single management job has a detailed job description, identifying the expertise and skills needed to handle the challenges of that specific role.
Management development across business areas
We have developed our own management development programmes, based on the daily challenges faced by managers. Our managers also have the opportunity to exchange experiences and learn from each other on a group-wide basis. Some of our managers also participate in seminars and courses at international business schools and in masters programmes.
