John joined Northern Bank in 1978 and served in a number of urban and rural branches before moving to the Bank’s Agricultural Department in 1987 where he spent almost ten years. In 1998 he was appointed Senior Agribusiness Manager in Newtownards and was appointed Head of Agriculture in December 2007.
His role is to act as spokesperson for Northern Bank on all agricultural related issues and advise Senior Management on the sector, provide training to Managers and staff on agriculture, plan and implement agricultural marketing and sponsorship activities and promote the Northern Bank brand within the sector.
John has a wealth of knowledge in the agricultural industry throughout Northern Ireland and further afield. He is from a dairy farming background and in his spare time runs a pedigree beef herd with his wife. He is well known in agricultural circles, a frequent contributor to the media and a regular speaker at conferences and dinners.
He is a Fellow of Royal Agricultural Societies, a Nuffield Farming Scholar and actively involved in a number of key agricultural organisations.
