Investment Process
At Northern Bank Investment Management, we will carry out a detailed investment analysis process in order to determine your investment profile.  An accurate investment profile is important to ensure that an appropriate strategy is adopted to assist in achieving your investment objectives. 

Once your investment profile has been established, we will then determine how to allocate your investment between different asset types.  Asset allocation is an effective way of reducing the fluctuations of an investment and can help you to manage risk. 

In order to ensure diversification of your portfolio we opt for a spread of investments across regions on a worldwide basis.  The regional allocation determines the geographical split within your portfolio.  Diversification is also a key factor in sector selection, ensuring that your investment is not over exposed to one particular area.  An appropriate spread across sectors will reduce the impacts of a negative performance in any specific sector.

Once the regions and sectors are selected, the next stage is security selection.  Selecting the right securities is of course fundamental to the overall investment strategy as the performance of the underlying assets will ultimately determine the performance of your investment.
