e-Safekey® is the Danske Bank Group's security software, which is installed on your PC and handles user ID, keys and passwords. The security measures in e-Safekey® are based on recognised encryption principles with public and private keys.
Logging on to Business eBanking
You log on to Business eBanking using both your user ID and password, which together represent an electronic signature. As your user ID is saved on your PC, you must copy it if you want to log on to Business eBanking from another PC. Usually, you just need your password.
Secret encryption key
When you use Business eBanking for the first time, you enter your temporary PIN. Afterwards, your personal secret encryption key is generated at random. The key is stored in your user ID together with information such as the originally assigned user ID. Your user ID is saved as a file on your PC and is protected by a personal password you choose yourself.
e-Safekey® retrieves your user ID
The security component receives your personal password and uses it to open your user ID so that the secret encryption key can be used for the electronic signature. Your password is linked to your user ID and never leaves the PC. If you wish to change your password, and you use Business eBanking from more than one PC, you must change your password on each PC.
Electronic signature
Technically, an electronic signature in e-Safekey® is based on a secret encryption key. The signature cannot be submitted without access to the encryption key and therefore cannot be counterfeited or broken. Note that only the electronic signature is transmitted over the Internet.
Take good care of your password
It is important to keep your password secret to ensure that your electronic signature can only be created by you. If you suspect that someone has gained knowledge of your password, you should order a new temporary PIN by contacting your relationship manager.
