What is a security?
A security is an investment instrument that is issued by an organization, such as a company or the government, in the form of equities (e.g. shares in the company) or as a loan (e.g. bond). Selecting the right securities is of course fundamental to the overall investment strategy as the performance of the underlying assets will ultimately determine the performance of your investment.
