How do I block my Maestro debit card or MasterCard Corporate card if I have lost it?

If you have lost any of your cards, it is important that you block them immediately. You can call our Card Services on telephone number 0870 8502482 or, if you are calling from outside the United Kingdom, you can call us on telephone number +44 2890 049202 (international rates). MasterCard Corporate cardholders who have access to our personal eBanking system can also block cards in eBanking. Log onto eBanking, select My overviews in the menu to the left and then select Card overview. Click the arrow next to the card you wish to block, and select Block card.

My card does not work any more. How do I order a new one?

You can call our Card Services on telephone number 0870 8502482 or, if you are calling from outside the United Kingdom, you can call us on telephone number +44 2890 049202 (international rates). MasterCard cardholders who have access to our personal eBanking system can also order a new card in eBanking. Log onto eBanking, select My overviews in the menu to the left and then select Card overview. Click the arrow next to the card you want to reorder and select Order replacement card.

My card will soon expire. When will my new card arrive?

You will receive your new card approx. one month before the expiry date. If you have not received a new card, please call us on telephone number 0870 8502482 or, if calling from outside the United Kingdom you can call us on telephone number +44 2890 049202 (international rates). Remember that the expiry date is month/year. So if it says 07/12, for example, you should receive your new card by the end of June 2012.

How can I see my individual MasterCard Corporate card purchases in eBanking?

If you are a MasterCard Corporate cardholder you can view and manage your individual corporate card in your personal eBanking.

When I use my card on the Internet, I am prompted to enter a card verification value code. What is this code?

The card verification value code is an extra security feature used for internet shopping. The code is the last three digits printed on the back of your card next to the signature field.

When I use my card on the Internet, I am asked to create a code called Verified by MasterCard SecureCode. What are these codes?

The Verified by MasterCard SecureCode is a new type of security code used for transacting online which will in future be used by more and more online merchants. If you use your MasterCard Corporate card to purchase online, you may be asked to create a code. When using this code, you confirm that you are the one paying with your card. The first time you purchase from a merchant using Verified by MasterCard SecureCode, you must create a personal code. Once you have created the code, you can reuse the same code when making online purchases with other merchants who use this security. It is up to the individual merchant to decide whether they want to use Verified by MasterCard SecureCode.

How do I open an account with Northern Bank?

If you want to open any of our accounts or cards you can select the APPLY tab, complete the form provided with your contact details and send to us. We will then get back to you to arrange an appointment. Read more about becoming a customer.

I have an account with another bank - how do I move to Northern Bank?

If you want to switch you account to us, we will work with you to agree a suitable date for the transfer. We will take care of transferring your Standing Orders and Direct Debits and any available balance from your previous bank. Read more on about becoming a customer.

What is the balance on my account?

You can easily view your balance using our online solution, Business eBanking. You can also check your balance by calling our 24 Hour Telephone Banking service or through Northern Bank cash machines if you have a Maestro debit card.

I'm expecting a payment into my account - have the funds been deposited yet?

You can easily see the activity on your account using our online solution, Business eBanking and if you select a specific transaction, detailed information on that transaction will be shown. You can also find information about the most recent transactions on your account through our 24 Hour Telephone Banking service and Northern Bank cash machines if you have a Maestro debit card.

I've made a payment - have the funds been withdrawn from my account?

You can easily see the activity on your account using our online solution, Business eBanking. If you select a specific transaction, detailed information on that transaction will be shown. You can also find information about the most recent transactions on your account through our 24 Hour Telephone Banking service and Northern Bank cash machines if you have a Maestro debit card.

How can I pay my suppliers?

You can easily arrange to make payments to your suppliers using our online solution, Business eBanking. You can create an individual payment or a file of payments to be processed together. And if any of your suppliers are outside the UK, you can also make payments directly to their foreign Bank account. You can also choose to make regular payments to the same supplier by Standing Order or Direct Debit.

What is the interest rate on my account?

You can see the interest rate on your account using our online solution, Business eBanking. Or you can contact your Northern Bank branch and talk to one of our advisors.

Where do I find my IBAN number?

Your International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is shown in our online solution, Business eBanking. You can also find your IBAN number on your statement.
