Switching from another bank/Building Society? we do all the hard work
What we will do for you
We will:
Step 1
We will explain the entire switching process and discuss the accounts available to you. We will give you all the details you need about your account, including its benefits, and information on fees and interest. We will also give you everything you need to use your new account such as (if appropriate and depending on your circumstances ) a chequebook, paying-in book and Maestro card with PIN - within 10 working days of having approved and then opened your account.
Step 2
We will help you to fill in the paperwork to let your employer, or other people who make regular payments to you, know your new account details and contact your 'old' bank to arrange for your standing orders, direct debits and available balance to be transferred to your new account. We will give you a list of your direct debits and standing orders so that you can check if they are correct.
Step 3
If you want us to, we can arrange for your old bank account to be closed (you need to remember that your 'old' account can only be closed when you have cleared your overdraft and any other borrowings connected to your 'old' account).
Step 4
We will give you an interest-free and charge-free overdraft for three months, (if you choose an account with this service and you want it ), if you meet the bank's requirements. If you do not want an overdraft or one is not available, we will, within a reasonable time, give you back any charges or debit interest that you had to pay us because of a failure during the switching process.
