Securities Trading - SharedealSecurities Trading - Sharedeal

Our online Sharedeal service provides you with a quick, convenient and cost effective way of buying and selling stocks and shares on a non-advised basis via our eBanking facility (or by telephone if preferred).

This information is for guidance only and is not a recommendation to buy or sell any investments or enter into any other transactions.

Risk Factors
Any stock market investment involves risk.  The value of your investment and any income you take from it can go down as well as up.  It is possible that the value may fall below your original investment and you may get back less than you originally invested.  You should also be aware that past performance is not necessarily a guide to future performance and if you cash in your investment, its value may be less than you have originally invested.  Before you decide to invest, it is important to understand these risks.

More information on specific risks associated with Securities Trading - Sharedeal can be found in the 'Terms and Conditions for Securities Trading - Sharedeal' attached below.

Trade Online
Our online banking facility, Northern eBanking is easy and secure to use so you can:-

  • Buy and sell securities without needing to speak to a dealer (you must open a Custody Account at your local Northern Bank branch before you can buy or sell securities online)
  • Place trades 24 hours a day (if a trade is placed outside the opening hours of a market, it will be transmitted once the market reopens)
  • Use limit orders to specify the highest price you will pay for shares and the lowest price at which you will sell your shares
  • Use our online tools to help manage your investments
  • Access your personalised pages to check on the progress of your portfolio
  • Receive correspondence by e-mail
  • Trade from as little as £15 per transaction
  • You must be aged 18 or over to use the Securities Trading - Sharedeal service

Telephone

If you would prefer to trade by telephone, our staff will quote you a price and ask you if you want to trade. If you confirm, they will place the trade on your behalf and confirmation in the form of a contract note will be sent by post.

You can trade by telephone Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm (with the exception of Northern Ireland Bank Holidays).  The dealing number is 028 (90)047500*.  You must open a Custody Account at your local Northern Bank branch before using this dealing number.

Whether you trade online or by telephone, we hold your shares electronically, which means there is less paperwork for you. We will provide you with an annual valuation of your holdings and an annual consolidated tax report.

The price you will be quoted in the eBanking system and by our telephone dealers is an indicative price, which means that it may not be the price you receive.  These indicative prices are updated every 15 minutes.

*We may record or monitor calls for your protection, to train our staff and to maintain the quality of our ongoing service.
