How to switch your personal current account
Switching your personal current account to Northern Bank couldn’t be easier.
Here’s how you do it.
Step 1
What we need from you
You give us your permission to transfer your account(s) to us and proof of your identity and current permanent address.*
Step 2
What we will do for you
We will explain the transfer process to you and discuss the account options available to you.
Step 3
We will then provide full details of your new account including its benefits, fees and interest information.
Step 4
We’ll also provide you with everything you need to operate your new account (such as, where appropriate and subject to age and status a cheque book, paying-in book and ATM/Cheque/Multifunction card with PIN) within 10 working days of having approved and then opened your account.
Step 5
We then inform your employer of your new account details and we’ll contact your “old” bank to arrange for the transfer of any Standing Orders, Direct Debits and any available balance to your new account.
Step 6
If you want us to we can also officially close your old bank account.**

Fees and charges
If you would like to open an account with Northern Bank please contact your local Northern Bank branch to arrange an appointment.
All cards, account and credit facilities are subject to status and applicants must be aged 18 or over.
* To comply with legislation, when opening an account you will be required to provide original documents such as a current Driving Licence and a recent utility bill, to confirm your identity and current permanent address. If necessary, please speak to a member of staff for details of alternative acceptable documents.
** Your old account cannot be closed if there is an overdraft on it until this has been cleared.
